A recent Baruch graduate who passed away in August has left family members and friends devastated and haunted with questions about the suspicious circumstances of his death.

Arturo Laulo, 21, was vacationing in Italy when he was found dead at a beach near his hotel.

According to a document provided by Jeanette Shuck of the Office of Student Life, Laulo was "found at the bottom of the sea in front of the Grand Hotel's beach in Cesenatico in Florence, Italy."

The Ticker has not been able to confirm the details of Laulo's untimely death with his family members, but a Facebook post by Laulo's sister Lucy describes a similar situation.

The post titled "Tragic News About My Brother" said Laulo "died on August 19 while at the beach in an incident that involved an injury to the head which killed him."

"At this time we are being told that this was a swimming accident," said the August 22 post. "But we are in contact with the U.S. Embassy and the Italian police authorities in an effort to find out the particulars of this disastrous event."

The document provided by Shuck said "external medical examination suggested death by severe head trauma and no water in the lungs."

"Still in the process of trying to figure out what has happened to my brother," Lucy wrote on Facebook. "There were no witnesses as to exactly what happened to him."

Laulo's body was flown back to the U.S. from Italy on Tuesday evening.

A memorial vigil will be held on Saturday evening at the family home.

Attempts to contact Laulo's sister were unsuccessful. The Ticker will continue to make all attempts to update the story.

Vice President of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management Ben Corpus encourages students and faculty to take advantage of Baruch's counseling services. The Baruch College Counseling Center, which is located on the 9th floor at 137 East 25th Street, is available to all students and can be contacted at 646-312-2155.

In an email sent to students on Wednesday night, Corpus encouraged students to "make yourselves available to one another and to friends and classmates of Arturo to provide support at this time of grief."
