Over the summer, The Ticker reevaluated our methods and our goals. The new school year will bring several changes in our coverage that are aimed to bringing better news to our readers and solidifying our status as a credible source of Baruch news.
Our editors are well aware that no serious paper can make it in the industry on print articles alone. Though it will take much effort and dedication, we realize how important it is to provide our readers with the most up-to-date and current news on as many platforms as possible. Therefore, this year, we will be incorporating more multimedia elements in our coverage. More print stories will feature online supplements, and we plan to expand our already existing weekly online edition.
Our website www.theticker.org will be updated daily and will feature more breaking news story in order to provide the most current news possible. Photo slideshows, video interviews and more will be available throughout every section, giving Baruch students better insight into the things that are important to them.
Also, new to the pages of the print edition of the Ticker will be an events calendar dedicated to informing students about all important dates both academic and social. We have changed our old page 2 Campus Briefs column and starting next week, there will be an entire page in the paper that will accommodate more event listings and will be more relevant to readers.
That spot on page 2 will now feature real briefs, short pithy articles on Baruch and CUNY happenings that didn't get covered in a longer article. These will often be updates and previews that may be covered later in more detail. Eventually, we hope to make this a big part of our website and get our readers involved.
The Ticker is also making an effort to provide more in-depth reporting. We will be working with our writers more closely and implementing training workshops to encourage best practices and ensure accuracy in all our articles. Readers can also expect more follow-up stories and the occasional series, as we strive to provide as much information as possible about what is going on at school.
As always, the Ticker will continue its reputation as the No. 1 newspaper in CUNY and as an award-winning source of college news. Innovation and improvement is a priority, and we look forward to your community.
